For this asssignment, we were asked to wander about on our own and draw. I chose to go to Goodale Park which is by the North Market, but a little south (A lot of people walk their dogs there). It was nice to have a little lee-way and go where I wanted and drew what I wanted so I really enjoyed this "class session" lol.
I applaud that you were able to draw the dog running, and have all of his feet in what appears to be the correct place. I can never figure out where dogs' legs are when they are moving. The woman at top right has a great tilt in her hips which gives her a lot of evidence of weight as she is walking. There is some good line weight and variation in this drawing (and the other ones), only wish you could've gotten her feet in. Good work overall.
ReplyDeleteJordan,
ReplyDeleteI know your propensity to be an illustrator first and to put fine details into your drawings; I don't want to detract you from doing so - just remember the gesture and silhouette first.
The right 2 drawings are my favorites here (although the dog is good, too). There is good overlap and turning in some or much of the figure. Try to avoid the straight frontal drawings - even if it means turning them just a little in the shoulder or hips and turning the feet outward or inward a little.
Those 2 right hand drawings also incorporate the background, which just finishes the idea more.
Keep drawing dogs ! We will focus on this a little later this semester.
